Convert SVG to JPG

Some upload boxes, thumbnail fields and messaging apps accept only JPG. This page draws each SVG at a width you choose, places it on a solid colour and saves a JPG, all inside your browser tab.

How to use the SVG to JPG converter

  1. Pick the SVG files you want as JPG.
  2. Type a width in pixels and choose the backdrop: white, black or light grey.
  3. Leave quality at 90 for line art, or lower it if size is tight.
  4. Convert and save the JPGs one by one or as a single ZIP.

Choosing the backdrop colour

Vector graphics are normally drawn on nothing at all, and JPG has no way to store nothing. Every empty pixel takes the colour you pick, and the soft edge pixels around shapes are mixed with it. A logo meant for dark video intros looks right on black; one destined for a document looks right on white.

If the graphic will be layered over moving footage later, a JPG is the wrong format; take the PNG route instead so the empty areas stay empty.

Keeping edges clean

JPG compression is designed for photographs. On flat colour and hard outlines it can leave a faint shimmer next to the edges, especially below quality 80. Staying at 90 or higher keeps lettering and icons tidy.

Since the vector is drawn from scratch at the width you request, a 1920-pixel JPG for a slide is just as sharp as a 400-pixel one for a chat avatar.

Fonts and linked files

The SVG is rendered on its own, without the web page it may have come from. Text in a typeface that is not installed on your machine switches to a default font, and images the file only links to elsewhere are left out.

Outlining the text and embedding any pictures in your design tool before export avoids both surprises, and the JPG then matches what you designed.

Questions

What width suits a video thumbnail?

1280 pixels is the usual width for a 16:9 thumbnail. The height follows the SVG’s own shape, so design the artwork at that ratio.

Can I convert many SVGs at once?

Yes. All of them are rendered at the same width, and each keeps its own aspect ratio.

How wide can the JPG be?

Up to 8192 pixels. Huge renders need plenty of memory, so a desktop browser handles them more reliably than a phone.
