Rotate image

Pictures that show up sideways in a chat, a slideshow or a video timeline are easy to fix here. Turn them a quarter, a half or three quarters, or type a small angle to level a tilted horizon, and the whole batch is processed on your device.

How to use the Rotate Image

  1. Add the pictures that need turning.
  2. Choose 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise or 180°, or pick Custom angle and type the degrees.
  3. Optionally choose a different Save as format.
  4. Rotate and download.

Why phone photos arrive sideways

Phones often store the picture in the sensor’s orientation and add a small flag saying which way is up. Apps that ignore the flag show the photo on its side. This tool honours the flag when it reads the picture, so your chosen turn is applied to what you actually see, and the saved result needs no flag at all.

A 90° or 270° turn simply trades the width for the height, so nothing is cropped and no blank corners appear.

Custom angles

Any angle from −359 to 359 degrees in half-degree steps is accepted; negative numbers turn counter-clockwise. The canvas grows so the corners of the original are not clipped, and the new triangles at the edges are transparent in PNG, WebP and AVIF while JPG fills them with the white, black or grey chosen under More settings.

To straighten and get rid of those corners, rotate first and then run the result through the crop tool at the original ratio.

Rotate and convert together

Save as lets you change format in the same step, for example turning HEIC photos and getting JPGs, or rotating PNG screenshots and saving them as WebP. HEIC always comes out as JPG unless you pick another format.

JPG output is written at quality 90 by default, which looks the same as the original; just avoid rotating the same JPG over and over.

Questions

Is EXIF kept?

No. The rotated copy is saved with no EXIF block, which also means the GPS position and phone model are gone.

Can I rotate a whole folder by the same amount?

Yes. Every picture in the queue receives the same turn.
